This is a Jean Pouyat Limoges hand painted and signed set of a chocolate pot with three matching chocolate cups and four saucers. The chocolate pot and saucers are each signed L.G.G. as shown. The cups are not signed. One cup has wear/damage to the gold paint on the handle as shown. This set is NOT dishwasher safe.
The set is hand painted which is very obvious with the cups and saucers as they are all similar, but completely different. Each is a pinky tan color with green leaves, white daffodils with yellow centers-but they designs are painted completely differently both inside and outside of the cups and on the tops of the saucers. The set is trimmed in gold with a nice handle design and a matching lid-a total of nine pieces. The cups are also hand painted on the inside of the cup which is very unusual.
The chocolate pot measures 4.50 inches wide across the base. The top rim is 2 7/8 inches wide. The chocolate pot is 10 1/8 inches tall to the rim and 11.50 inches to the bow shaped handle.
Each cup is 2.25 inches wide at the rim and is just short of 3.00 inches tall.
Each saucer is 4 5/8 inches across.
The set has no chips, cracks, crazing, or other damage. The inside of the cups are painted which is very unusual, and care needs to be taken when cleaning them.
The inside of the chocolate pot is clean with no damage or stains. The back rims of the saucers are also painted.
This is a very unique and antique set. The Jean Pouyat mark is dated 1890 making this set about one hundred and thirty-five years old. It is in amazing condition with no wear or damage and is being stored in a very secure place to protect it. Packing the item for shipping will be done very carefully with a thought to being overly cautious. The odds of finding another set like this are astronomical and I understand it needs a lot of protection.
