The hinged pewter lid retains its original thumb lift and exhibits a natural aged patina that underscores the stein’s history without compromising function.

The base is stamped “Original Thewalt” and “Western Germany”, confirming post‑war production. Additional mark “No. 187” appears under the handle. Inside, the stoneware shows light crazing consistent with vintage age; the exterior glaze remains vibrant and well‑preserved. There are no chips or cracks, and the relief work retains excellent depth.
