Be captivated by the timeless elegance of this vintage Everest coffee table, a collector's item that embodies the refinement of mid-century British design. Attributed to the Everest factory (often distributed by Heals at the time), this coffee table is distinguished by its iconic shape and the richness of its materials.
A Bold Surfboard Design
What immediately strikes you about this vintage Everest coffee table is the unique silhouette of its tabletop. Known as the "surfboard" style, the tabletop features convex lines along its length and a fishtail (or snout) shape at the ends.
This cantilevered design offers a dynamic and airy look. The tabletop is crafted from a magnificent walnut veneer with a rich, contrasting grain, while the tapered, curved legs echo the warm hue of sapele. This blend of wood species gives the piece a unique character, typical of the 1960s.
Functionality and Integration into Your Interior
More than just a decorative object, this vintage Everest coffee table was designed for modern interiors. Its dimensions (121 cm wide) are ideal: generous enough to fill the space in front of a sofa, yet compact enough not to obstruct movement.
Beneath the main tabletop, you'll find a slatted shelf that doubles as a magazine rack. This storage space, located 15 cm from the tabletop, is perfect for organizing books, magazines, and remote controls, allowing you to maintain a tidy living room while keeping your belongings within easy reach.
Condition and Restoration
We have taken particular care in restoring this piece of furniture. This vintage Everest coffee table has been carefully cleaned, degreased, and lightly sanded by our craftsmen. It has then received several coats of high-quality oil to nourish the wood and provide lasting protection.
While the table is in very good overall condition, it still bears the marks of its history. This is an authentic vintage piece that shows some normal signs of wear, including light scratches on the legs and minor imperfections on the tabletop, which attest to its age and authenticity.
