A rare and highly evocative Gucci glassware set dating to the 1950s, embodying the refined dialogue between design, craftsmanship, and equestrian-inspired elegance that defined the Florentine house in the postwar years. The set comprises a large hand-blown green glass pitcher, standing 30 cm high, accompanied by six matching tumblers, each measuring 13 cm in height with a 7 cm diameter. All elements are executed in richly toned green glass with a substantial, sculptural presence, and are adorned with applied decorative bands combining woven textile, natural leather, and gold-plated metal details. These elements draw directly from Gucci’s iconic saddle-making heritage and early house codes. The pitcher features an elegantly curved handle fully wrapped in leather, seamlessly integrated into the glass form. The tumblers echo the same decorative motif, creating a visually cohesive and highly theatrical ensemble.
Condition The set appears to have never been used and remains in very good original condition. One tumbler shows a small loss to the leather on the reverse, near the button opening of the removable band, clearly visible in the photographs. This minor flaw does not detract from the overall visual impact or collectability of the set.
Notes Conceived more as a display piece than for everyday use, this set stands as an exceptional example of 1950s luxury barware. It is ideally suited as a Christmas gift or as a statement object for a refined interior, library, or bar cabinet. The interplay of colored glass, leather, and gilded metal gives the ensemble a strong decorative presence and unmistakable historical character. A rare, elegant, and highly collectible set, offering a compelling glimpse into Gucci’s early exploration of lifestyle objects at the intersection of fashion and design. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
