Murano ‘Aquarium’ table lamp Made at Vetreria Artistica Cenedese by Alfredo Barbini, Italy, approx. 1946–55.
Blown and solid clear glass with submerged fish and seaweed stems. Brass top with the glass integrated into the brass part, newer socket and new cord fitted.
Origin: Murano, Italy, the world capital of glass production.
Foundation: Founded by Gino Cenedese in 1946 in collaboration with masters such as Alfredo Barbini.
Style: Combines classic Venetian techniques with modern artistic flair.
Techniques: Famous for the Sommerso technique (layered colours)
Characteristic works: Iconic ‘Aquarium’ sculptures (clear blocks with floating fish/seaweed) and Geode bowls.
