The piece is a magnificent example of Italian "Chinoiserie": while clearly of local manufacture (likely from the Veneto or Pesaro areas, famous for these reinterpretations), the design is a tribute to ancient art.

Subject and Style: The cake stand is composed of a large upper cup with wavy edges and raised ribs (knurling), supported by a complex sculptural base. The central shaft is decorated with geometric and Greek key motifs and rests on three elaborate feet depicting dragon heads or stylized sea monsters, typical of iconography reinterpreted with an Italian Baroque flair. The entire piece is coated in a deep turquoise glaze (Blue) with a precious glossy and slightly shaded finish, imitating ancient Chinese Monochrome porcelain.

Material and Technique: Made of molded, hand-finished glazed majolica ceramic. The structure is assembled with a central pin (with a brass screw visible inside the cup), a typical feature of high-quality pieces that joined complex parts. The base features a label or remnant of a gold label from the period.
