This antique stone trough originates from the Puy-de-Dôme region in central France and dates from approximately 1750 to 1850.
Hand-carved from dense volcanic rock, this primitive basin once served as a water or wash trough on a rural farmstead.
The piece exhibits a remarkable natural patina and subtle tool marks that attest to its age and craftsmanship. The thick, solid stone walls provide both durability and a sculptural quality, making this trough suitable for indoor or outdoor display.
Today, it can serve as a garden planter, decorative sink, or architectural accent in rustic, wabi-sabi, or modern organic interiors.
