The rhythmic interplay of the black tubular steel frame and the coloured metal hooks gives the piece a graphic presence reminiscent of a musical staff or scale. This early version was designed for the goed wonen foundation and produced by devo in the hague. The design was calibrated to the width of a standard interior door and reflects the functional principles of post-war dutch modernism. The composition of the round steel frame and curved metal hooks in black, red, yellow and white was later revised by tjerk reyenga for pilastro. Dimensions: 200 × 74 × 4 cm / 78.7 × 29.1 × 1.6 in (h×w×d). Source: goed wonen magazine (illustrated without hat rack; this was an optional element). The condition of this wall-mounted coat rack is very good. The metal hooks have been repainted; the frame shows light signs of wear consistent with age and use.
