Portrait of a Seated Man with Glasses
Jack Gerber (American, b. 1921)
c. 1950
Oil on board
34 x 30 in. (framed)
This mid-20th-century oil painting by Jack Gerber presents an expressionist portrait of a seated man, depicted with glasses and crossed legs, seated in a red chair. Gerber’s use of bold, gestural brushwork and simplified forms reflects the influence of postwar American expressionism, emphasizing emotional presence over representational accuracy.
The painting is housed in a washed, wormhole wood frame that complements its vintage character.
Condition: The work is in good overall condition, with surface wear and minor abrasions consistent with age and medium.
