These beads, often called "dholki" beads ( drum shaped ) or "borimala" in India, are a traditional style of tribal or ethnic jewelry, particularly from the Gujarat and Maharashtra regions.
The beads are created by wrapping a thin sheet of high grade silver over a core of wax or lac (a type of natural resin), which makes the large beads lightweight. The beads are then hand-stamp into place which makes the unique shape of each bead in texture and appearance, a black cord or thread is used to thread the beads.
This necklace was purchased in 1990's and stored away. Pictures show you each and every angle, no hidden damages. I have cleaned and polished the beads for you and the necklace will arrive in a new box for gifting or resale.
