Nice vintage Asian Bamboo basket with silk wrapped shells for good luck.
These baskets were traditionally made and used by anglers or farmers to hold small fish, shrimp, and crabs.
It has an inward-pointing conical “throat” below the neck, allowing the fish to enter but preventing them from escape.
Made entirely from bamboo strips this basket is an art form in itself. Shells added are not just for decoration but for good luck.
Basket is considered a rare collectible today.
Purchased while traveling 1980’s. Pictures show you each and every angle, no hidden damages.
