This substantial piece features a rectangular trough with a deeply recessed interior, supported by two robust, architectural trestle bases. The corners are anchored by four exquisitely carved winged sirens (or sphinxes) with serene, classical features. The long sides showcase a central heraldic crest (escutcheon) flanked by scrolling sea serpents and lush acanthus foliate motifs. The planter rests upon two monumental supports carved in the form of winged lions (Monopodia), a classic Roman motif symbolizing strength and nobility. See less
