Original painting by Navajo (Diné) artist Johnny Yazzie (1945–2021). This small-format work depicts a quiet winter scene: a rider slumped forward on horseback at the edge of a snowy bluff, with distant figures moving through mist beneath a glowing moon/sun on the horizon. The palette of soft violets, blues, and snow-white highlights creates an atmospheric, contemplative mood that works beautifully in Western, Southwestern, rustic, and gallery-wall settings.
The painting is executed on a Fredrix 9" x 12" canvas panel (label present on the reverse) and is signed “J-Yazzie” with a date that appears to read “’93” at the lower right. The artist did not note a formal title on the verso, so the descriptive title used here is for listing purposes only.
