This vintage 6x10 Persian kilim is a rare mid-century Shahsavan rug, believed to originate from the city of Qazvin.
On the Design:
Handwoven in wool circa 1950-1960, connoisseurs will note its unique colors, especially its many silver-gray and ivory tones. So, too, does its geometry stand alone, where one seldom sees such an interesting use of colors in these sharp geometric patterns. The way these bright hues play with the rich brown and magenta border notes lends a gorgeous sense of movement and a more modern presence than almost any other Kilim in its time. It’s an extremely collectible rug, even in Shahsavan rugs known for their unusual pieces.
Condition:
This mid-century Persian Shahsavan Kilim further enjoys good condition for its age and origin, and is ready for the floor.
