Giovanni Camprio (1915–1999) was celebrated for his evocative oil and acrylic seascapes and luminous Mediterranean scenes. Born in Rome in 1915, he moved to Naples as a child, where he developed a lifelong fascination with the harbor and the dramatic beauty of Southern Mediterranean landscapes. Much of his early adolescence was spent painting the scenery of the Isle of Capri, an experience that deeply influenced his artistic voice.

At a young age, Camprio traveled to Paris to further his studies at the Académie Carrière and the École des Beaux-Arts, where he refined a strong realist sensibility.
