Rich in decorative character and scale, the chairs retain beautifully aged surfaces with warm patina consistent with age and use.

The set comprises six original chairs and four closely matched companion chairs assembled as a cohesive and harmonious dining set. According to original dealer documentation from Tom Hayes & Associates at the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center (ADAC), the chairs are of Italian origin and date to the late 19th century. Subtle carving variations between the two groups — most notably at portions of the knee carving — are visually minor when the chairs are arranged around a table and are typical of thoughtfully assembled antique dining sets.

The painted and gilt finishes show attractive age, wear, scattered chipping, and surface variation that contribute to the chairs’ character and authenticity. Upholstery is older and would benefit from replacement, presenting an excellent opportunity to customize the set for a contemporary, traditional, or designer-led interior.

Several of the older chairs exhibit minor movement at portions of the upper crest joinery consistent with age. All chairs remain functional for seating.

Beautifully scaled for a substantial dining room, these chairs would pair especially well with a large farmhouse, trestle, or antique dining table and suit layered European-inspired, collected, or old-world interiors. See less
