Exceptional matched pair of large antique cast bronze lion sculptures, likely Italian or French, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century.
Each lion measures an impressive 13 inches long, making this a substantial and visually commanding set. The lions are true mirror images, cast with outstanding anatomical detail including muscular definition, expressive faces, and deeply textured manes.
The bronze displays a rich, dark brown patina with natural highlights from age and handling. Both figures are heavy and well-balanced, confirming solid bronze construction rather than spelter or composite. Original green felt pads remain intact on the feet, consistent with period mantel or furniture use.
