Subject and Style: The piece is a magnificent example of the Eclectic/Neo-Empire (or Napoleon III) style, very popular in the second half of the 19th century. The tripod base is supported by three scenic winged female figures (sphinxes or caryatids) that blend into vegetal scrolls and feral paws, recalling classical and mythological aesthetics. The central stem features a torchon (spiral) finish and terminates in the decorated candle holder. The dark "cast brown" patina gives the piece an austere and noble appearance.

Included Accessory: The candlestick comes complete with a unique red artistic wax candle, finely sculpted in relief with floral/vegetal motifs, perfectly complementing its Gothic aesthetic.
