Sculptural pair of mid-century candleholders made from solid hardwood featuring dramatic natural insect-eaten voids. The blocks were cut, squared, and finished to intentionally preserve the organic interior erosion and negative space created by insects in the wood, then fitted with brass candle cups.
Rather than decorative carving, the visual impact comes from the naturally formed cavities, grain variation, and contrast between raw wood and refined brass. These read as functional objects but also as small sculptural forms, closely aligned with organic modern, wabi-sabi, and studio-craft design of the 1960s–1970s.
Each piece presents differently due to the natural character of the wood. Substantial, grounded proportions with strong visual weight.
