Each piece features thick, hand-blown clear glass, curved into a softly winged form and bisected by a vertical band of pale blue lattimo — a traditional Murano glass technique employing opaque “milk glass”. Now seldom seen in contemporary production, lattimo gently diffuses the light and conceals the bulbs, producing a warm, ambient glow. The contrast between the transparent surface and the opaline stripe gives the fixture both visual rhythm and technical subtlety.
lattimo (Italian for “milk glass”) is a historic Murano technique originally developed in the 15th century to imitate fine porcelain. This glassmaking method fell out of favor by the early 20th century, but it experienced a revival in mid-century Italian lighting design.These sconces exemplify that mid-century blend of modern form and time-honored craftsmanship. Their design is functional and refined, yet deeply rooted in Murano’s rich glassmaking heritage.
