The Autoprogettazione approach was groundbreaking, promoting an easy-to-assemble, do-it-yourself methodology using raw materials like rough pine wood boards and nails. The Metamobile project, a collaboration between Enzo Mari and Dino Gavina, expanded on this concept. Produced at Gavina’s plant in Calcinelli di Fano, these limited-edition pieces remained true to the ethos of Autoprogettazione while adapting slightly for production. Instead of nails, these designs utilized screws, washers, and nuts, preserving the raw and honest materiality while ensuring a durable structure. Crafted from natural pine wood, this table is an authentic example of the Metamobile project. Over time, the pine has developed a rich, dark patina, highlighting its history and enhancing its character.
