This is a wonderful and unique piece of history and ceramic art! This vintage table lamp is prominently marked "Occupied Japan," dating its manufacture to the post-World War II period between 1945 and 1952.
The lamp body beautifully mimics the highly collectible Wedgwood Jasperware style, featuring a smooth, matte [BLUE/SAGE GREEN/OTHER] ceramic background accented by elegant white bas-relief figures in a Neoclassical style (e.g., Grecian scenes, muses, Roman figures). These imitation Jasperware pieces from the Occupied Japan period are highly sought after for their historical context and charming take on a classic European design.
