A finely painted piece … Read more On offer is this wonderful antique 'Indian School' illuminated manuscript painting of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. A finely painted piece of artwork that most likely dates to the 19th century, possibly earlier. When this work of art came into our possession the backing board of the frame was in a poor state so we have replaced it with a thick backing board to make the work secure. The replacement work allowed us access to the back of the image, which we have added to the photos to illustrate that this is a piece from an illuminated manuscript. The artwork itself is in excellent condition. The frame is adequate and sturdy but the work could probably benefit from a replacement frame. The visible image measures 7.15" by 4.5". The frame measurement is 11.45" by 8.7".
