Likely produced in Germany or Austria C. 1880’S-1910’S. The horse features a boldly carved form with an open mouth, hand set glass eyes, leather ears, and a wonderfully animated stance. The original paint surface shows authentic wear, creating exceptional depth and character that only time can produce. Mounted on its original wheeled wooden plinth, decorated with hand applied gilt scrolling, this piece has a strong presence and was most likely a decorative sculpture rather than a toy.
