Pair of 19th century italian walnut card tables
an exceptional pair of 19th century italian walnut card tables.
these lovely tables are of simple rectangular form but with details that mark them out as very interesting. There are small drawers to the centre of the friezes with a key. The edges of the tops have a gilded leaf moulding. The legs join the body of the table via giltwood terminals, themselves sat upon ebonised blocks with gilded leaf carved detailing applied beneath. The legs have a very subtle cabriole profile and terminate in incurved ends, perched upon contrasting ebonised ball feet.
most card tables open on gatelegs but this pair have rotating tops which then open sideways on the central carcass. The tables have traditional green baize inserts.
