This is one of the last works by the Madrid-born artist, who died just four years after painting it. It stands out for its quality and beauty, as well as for the exceptional nature of its subject matter and material. This oil painting on porcelain was used in some important tavern or inn of the time as a menu, a clear reflection of the good taste and importance placed on depicting every detail of daily life in an elegant and distinguished manner.
