this large and decorative coffee table features the iconic garrigue tiles by celebrated french ceramicist roger capron, produced between 1968 and 1982 in vallauris, france. The garrigue series is one of capron’s most recognizable and sought-after works, defined by its organic motifs and artisanal production method. The tiles were created using a unique technique in which real leaves from “la garrigue” — the wild mediterranean shrubland of southeastern france — were pressed into the clay. During firing, the organic matter disintegrated, leaving behind finely detailed botanical impressions that make each tile completely unique. This example presents: a warm ochre glazed tile composition with multiple botanical imprints tiles elegantly wrapped over the table’s edges — a desirable detail in capron’s work a base constructed from solid patinated beechwood, giving the piece a robust, architectural presence with rich, natural aging beautiful overall patina consistent with age and craftsmanship
