Striking English Art Deco wardrobe crafted in richly figured walnut veneer by The Mayfair Cabinet Works Ltd., Sunderland, circa the 1930s. This sculptural piece features a dramatic stepped and curved façade with beautifully mirrored walnut grain, original carved wooden handles, and refined Deco detailing throughout.
The interior retains its original fitted configuration, including a full hanging section, shelving, and integrated garment organizers. The original labeled compartments remain intact, with clearly marked sections for pyjamas, ties, pants, and shirts, etc reflecting the thoughtful craftsmanship and attention to daily use typical of high-quality English wardrobes of the period.
With its warm walnut tones, bold architectural form, and well-preserved interior fittings, this wardrobe makes an impressive statement not only as a traditional bedroom piece but also as a bar cabinet, dressing-room armoire, or luxury storage piece.
An excellent and increasingly hard-to-find example of British Art Deco furniture with original labels and maker’s plaque present.

Structurally sound and solid. Rich walnut veneer with strong, symmetrical grain. Original hardware and labeled interior fittings remain intact and functional. Interior remains clean and usable. Wear consistent with age includes light surface scratches and scuffs throughout, most visible on the sides and lower areas, along with minor finish wear and small edge rubs at the base. There are areas of gentle surface rippling and waviness to the walnut veneer and finish on portions of the doors, consistent with age-related veneer movement on vintage case goods. One original pants hanger component is missing. Interior shows expected age-related wear. No major veneer losses, structural issues, or repairs observed. All wear is cosmetic and appropriate for a piece of this age and quality. Original key is not included; doors open and close properly. less
