Pair antique French Empire early 19th century Paris porcelain vases or urns with biscuit winged herm handles on square slate bases. Painted with classical maidens attended by putti, the reverse gilt with a lyre and berried laurel within a matte-blue roundel reserved on the gilt-scale ground, on socle foot. Measure 9 3/4" tall x 5 1/4" across handles x 3 1/2" front to back.
Provenance: Christie's "Nineteenth Century Furniture, Sculpture and Works of Art" October 10, 2001 Lot 79. Catalogued by Christie's as "probably Russian".
