A rare and sculptural pair of large “Model 1537” wall lights designed by Pietro Chiesa for Fontana Arte in the 1940s — an iconic expression of early Italian modernism, where purity of form meets luminous poetry. Each sconce features an elongated conical shade in thick frosted glass, gently diffusing the light with a velvety, atmospheric glow. Monumental in scale, each piece measures 48 cm in height, 13.5 cm in width and 20 cm in depth, with the upper glass cone diameter also measuring 13.5 cm. Their tall, tapering silhouette creates a refined vertical presence that is both architectural and ethereal. As shown in the photos, one of the two glass cones presents a tiny chip on the upper rim — discreet and imperceptible when installed, yet indicative of authentic age. The glass remains in excellent structural condition. The frosted glass shades sit atop long tapered brass bodies mounted on geometric wall arms. The brass across both sconces displays a rich, untouched patina — warm, mottled and beautifully aged, exactly what discerning collectors value most. One sconce features a visible vertical fissure along the brass body, thoroughly documented in the photos. This does not affect structural integrity or functionality; rather, it reinforces originality and adds to the expressive character of the piece. These sconces are among the most striking and elegant designs by Chiesa — timeless objects that feel equally relevant in contemporary and historical interiors. Their purity, quiet drama and mastery of materials are unmistakably Fontana Arte. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
