This exceptional table lamp is a masterpiece of modernist design by the renowned french designer jacques adnet, crafted in his atelier during the 1950s. A striking example of adnet’s signature style, the lamp is made with luxurious and rare two-toned black and white leather, featuring exquisite hand-stitched detailing that highlights his pioneering use of leather in furniture and decorative design. The lamp’s design is both functional and artistic, characterized by a round central pole paired with a circular base that provides stability while creating a distinctive, balanced silhouette. The original leather wrapping adds a refined and sophisticated touch, underscoring its timeless elegance. Adnet’s innovative approach to incorporating leather into his creations is fully realized in this piece. The lamp retains its original brass socket, while the shade has been faithfully restored in off-white linen with a black seam, carefully honoring the original design aesthetic. In good, authentic condition, the lamp showcases a gentle patina on the leather and brass, which adds a layer of character and charm to its already remarkable presence. It accommodates an e27 bulb of up to 75 watts and is compatible with modern led options, ensuring practicality for contemporary use. This iconic lamp represents the perfect marriage of functionality and artistry, making it a highly desirable addition to any interior space, whether modern or classic. Its timeless appeal and historical significance make it not just a light source but a statement piece of design heritage. This lamp is checked in our own atelier, cleaned and is also suitable for use in the usa. For us usage we could change the plug, or you can get a converter if needed for a floor or table lamp with transformer in it. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
