A museum piece, this kitchen unit by Charlotte Perriand was designed to equip the apartments of the Les Arcs 1800 ski resort, a project to which she dedicated nearly 20 years of her life.
The prefabricated kitchen is designed to be connected directly on-site. It includes lighting, four cooktop burners, space for a dishwasher, and a small refrigerator. It is composed of a fiberglass-reinforced polyester shell and stainless steel.
The unique feature of this rare example is that it was designed in two parts to facilitate access to the upper floors of the buildings in Les Arcs.
Exhibited at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, it was also featured in the 2019 exhibition at the Fondation Louis Vuitton, "The New World of Charlotte Perriand."
