The body of the planter features decorative applied handles that accent a frieze of women encircling the midpoint. This classical frieze identifies different aspects of mythological life. One panel appears to depict a woman trying to cage captured cherubs, while another portrays a seated deity acknowledging her maidens on their return. The base stand is highlighted with stunning pierce work designs. There are two very small areas of glaze loss. I believe it to be English Majolica. See less
