This vintage early 19th century continental Georgian sterling silver calling card case features a repousse panel of children playing with a litter of puppies. This highly decorated panel is framed with a gold wash floral design. The opposite side is the cover & features an intricate geometric design with an etched flower at the corners. There is a central blank "small" rectangle. The case has a secure hinged closing mechanism. There are two punchmarks on this case. One shows the profile of the god "Mercury" (pictured) & the other, the initials "F & K". (? Foret & Robert).
The interior is lined with deep purple velvet pockets.
I believe, initially, the entire sterling case had a gold wash. Much of it is gone.
