introduced in the mid-1930s, the olivetti ico was the company’s first truly portable typewriter — a milestone of italian industrial design.
also known as the “ico” model (from "ingegnere camillo olivetti"), it stands out for its simplicity, practicality and timeless beauty — a real revolution for its era.

this example is especially desirable in its extremely rare original red finish, produced in very limited numbers and now highly sought after by collectors.


➝ condition

this rare olivetti ico is in very good/excellent* condition — remarkable for a machine approaching 100 years of age.
the paint shows a few small chips and touchpoints, and the chrome parts display minor age-related wear. Overall, the typewriter has the natural signs of time you would expect from an authentic 1930s piece. Please examine all photos carefully for an accurate impression.

in use, the machine works well; however, as is typical for ico models, the red/black ribbon selector is not perfectly precise. Occasionally, characters set to “black” may show tiny traces of red, and vice versa.
for this reason, it will be shipped with a new, fresh black ribbon, which ensures clean and consistent typing.

the typewriter comes with its original wooden case, preserved in very good/excellent condition (please note: the key is missing).
