Guy Bolton (1884-1979) was an American playwright and librettist whose first play appeared on Broadway in 1911. His scripts were enhanced with music by composers like Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, and George Gershwin. Among his 50 plays and musicals were Primrose (1924), Lady, Be Good (1925), and Anything Goes (1934) He is considered a major contributor to the development of the musical.
