Offering a small rare authentic Christine Viennet porcelain sculptural three dimensional decorative plate, circa Late 20th Century. This lovely hand painted Trompe L'oeil plate depicts three whole bright yellow lemons with a lemon wedge and green leaves placed upon a blue, white and red floral plate.
Christine Viennet is famous for sourcing antique and vintage decorative porcelain plates to create her Trompe L'oeil sculptures upon them. In her earlier years, she utilized porcelain plates from Japan, Portugal, Italy and France. This particular plate is vintage Japanese Arita Ware from the Shoho Kiln as identified from the signature on verso. She usually blocks out the manufacturer logo of the plate, but this logo shows through since the previous owner accidentally cleaned and removed most of the artist signature, leaving behind an almost eligible signature. As seen in the photo of the back of the plate, the "C" from Christine and the final "T" from Viennet are legible.
Since we are familiar selling Christine Viennet's work and have sold several pieces over the years, we were able to determine from the remaining marks that this is an authentic early piece of hers from the late 20th Century. These particular style plates are extremely rare and hard to find, as few were made.
EXCELLENT VINTAGE CONDITION. The new owner will be very happy about its nearly immaculate condition.
