The round carved bone container features a decorative framed artist signed hand painted portrait under glass displayed on the top of the hinged lid cover. It is a gouache painting signed Jenny. It features a female courtier in period clothing & a fashionable oversize hat. The painting has nice detail & excellent coloration. The container/box opens with the push of an easily seen button on the side. There are two prominent age cracks, but these do not interfere with the intended purpose of the box.
