A dynamic black-and-white geometric drawing by Ruth Esserman (1936–2022), a longtime Chicago artist and educator whose work was widely exhibited in national and international juried shows. Esserman was known for her intricate, architectural compositions built from layered linework, cross-hatching, and energetic spatial structures — qualities beautifully demonstrated in this piece.
This drawing features interlocking linear forms, angular planes, and rhythmic mark-making, creating a sense of motion and architectural depth. The monochrome palette makes it exceptionally versatile for modern, minimalist, and contemporary interiors.
Esserman exhibited at the Arts Club of Chicago, Denver Art Museum, Minneapolis Art Museum, the Rockford Art Museum Biennial, and the Pilzn International Drawing Biennale, where she received Best in Show. Her work is held in numerous public and private collections.
The artwork (12″ × 18″) is signed and mounted on a 16″ × 20″ matboard, exactly as kept in the artist’s studio. Stored flat and well-preserved.
