Original Cirebon (West Java) Wayang Golek puppets
Wood block stands are included.
The hands are controlled by wooden sticks. The body is held up by another stick beneath the clothing.
Each puppet is about 16" high including clothing.
Circa 1950s - 1960s
They depict Rama (left) and Sita (right), ancient Hindu Prince and Princess who are exiled from their palace and form a story line prevalent throughout Southeast Asia.
The condition is generally good. There are several small tears in the clothing as these where actively used. The strings connecting the sticks to the hands have been replaced. But the sticks and parts are otherwise original. Patina is typical of the age.
