Ink and watercolor study by Iris Brody c. 1960
Iris Brody was a contemporary artist with William Burroughs and others during the Beatnik era. A resident of the Lower East Side in Manhattan, Brody's tendency to use unstable materials in her work caused many to deteriorate within a few decades. This particular painting was completed a year before her passing of an overdose in 1961.
