Stunning hope chest handmade by the Lane Cedar Chest company in Altavista, VA. Rich color, visible grain, and what appear to be brass hinges and ornamental detailing. Includes information sheet for using the chest, Lane stamp on inner lid, and a style number on the bottom. I cannot find the serial number, but other elements would appear to indicate a pre-1950 manufacture (please reach out if you have more info, I'm really curious!) The box is in very good vintage condition.
*The lock mechanism (which was recalled) has been removed. The chest does not lock at all, the list simply rests shut.*
