Arthur Umanoff (1913–1985) was an American industrial designer renowned for his contributions to Mid-Century Modern furniture, particularly in wrought iron and bentwood. Born in New York, Umanoff studied at the Pratt Institute before establishing his own design practice in the 1940s. He gained prominence for creating functional, sculptural pieces that combined metal frames with organic materials, often collaborating with manufacturers like Raymor to produce affordable yet stylish furniture. His designs, characterized by their playful yet practical forms, became iconic in Mid-Century interiors, with wrought iron chairs and bar stools remaining highly sought after by collectors for their enduring appeal and innovative craftsmanship.

The wrought iron frames shows no serious signs of wear with only light nicks and scuffs present. The leather slings that support and cradle each bottle have been replaced with all new hand-tooled, thick-cut genuine Italian leather hides and stained to match the color and tone of the original straps. The solid butcher block top shows some signs of wear such as water stains from use as a kitchen element which can be seen in the detail photos provided. As purists, we strive to leave all of our pieces in as original condition as possible. However we do offer restoration services and a full carpentry shop which can professionally sand and refinish the butcher block included in the sale price.
