The figure was created by Jean-Baptiste Clesinger, one of the most important French sculptors of the 19th century. Clesinger was known for his virtuoso realism, expressive drapery, and sensuously modeled figures.

The work was cast in patinated bronze in the second half of the 19th century by the renowned Parisian foundry F. Barbedienne, whose name is synonymous with the highest casting quality. Bronzes from the Barbedienne manufactory are characterized by precise details, fine surfaces, and an exceptionally elegant patina – this piece impressively displays all these qualities.

The figure presents Helen in a serene, classical pose: graceful, feminine, lightly veiled, and richly draped.
