Project … Read more This architectural layered cement head sculpture forms part of the Proyectos subseries within the wider conceptual framework of anthropotecture. Project 19 reflects on the human head as a constructed dwelling composed of stacked layers, structural joints and contrasting materials. The addition of chestnut wood inserts, positioned as architectural anchors within the head’s anatomy, reinforces the idea of the body as a built environment shaped through fragmentation, assembly and material memory. Its scale and presence position it within collectible small sculptures that merge figuration, architecture and contemporary craft. Cast in high-hardness cement from a silicone mold, the sculpture preserves the material traces typical of construction: pores, tonal shifts, small chips, light abrasions and visible joints. Each layer is hand-tinted with water-based pigments and sealed with a semi-matte varnish to maintain the texture and nuance of the surface. Chestnut wood, treated with lasur, introduces a warm organic counterpoint to the mineral structure. The cement mixture incorporates fine aggregates for crisp detailing, acrylic fibers to prevent shrinkage cracking, and a water-reducing agent to ensure fluidity while preserving structural integrity.
