Founded in the early 19th Century by Michael Thonet, Thonet invented the process of steam bending wood under pressure and used this to design the classic bentwood chairs still in production today. In the 19th Century he had a large network of shops throughout Europe and was a huge furniture retailer. This is a stunning set of eight original Thonet chairs in a stunning design and shape, the chairs are not marked Thonet but we have had this exact design many times and sometimes they are not always marked. The chairs have been gently refurbished in our own workshops and are in excellent condition. The chairs have some minor markings but no clear Thonet label so they may be Mundus or an early similar maker. Seat Height 47cm. Workshop Report: Our workshop team inspect every product and carry out any needed repairs to ensure that everything leaves us serviced and maintained ready for many more years of life. All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use and we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
