Designed by mid century titans charles and ray eames and produced in america by herman miller, this rare and charming footstool was likely made in the early 1970s. Extremely rare for being upholstered in a dusky pink suede, this elegantly stylish and versatile piece will add gorgeous colouring, super functionality and a quintessentially ‘mid-century’ finishing touch to any interior.

depending on which eames website you read, the second generation ‘ribbed ottoman’, originally called the ea323 ottoman and later known as the ea125 ottoman, was produced from 1966/1969 onwards. As part of the aluminium group of eames furniture, it features the eames universal base, introduced in 1961, which features four extending arms with flared legs for greater stability and white glide feet.

the lovely dusky pink colouring of the suede upholstery really makes this a rare, elegantly charming and versatile piece, and looking at the underside, it was likely originally a darker, more vibrant orangey-pink hue, which has mellowed over the decades into a lovely tasteful tone.

all in all this is a rare and very attractive eames ribbed ottoman by henry miller, which will add lovely colouring, interest and mid century refinement to any setting.

condition
this super ottoman footstool is in good vintage condition with minor signs of its age. Solid, sturdy, structurally sound and expertly crafted, it has the herman miller sticker to the underside, is in original condition and has a small stain mark to the upholstery, which may well clean up, and a nick to the edge of the upholstery. Overall it's a fantastic rare piece in lovely vintage condition and if well looked after it should remain just as wonderful for many more decades to come – please see the photos.
