Different … Read more A pair of Baccarat crystal decanters 7 inches high and about 4 inches in diameter at the widest part. Different sites report different names for the style but I believe these may have been part of a collaboration with Hermes in the 1960s to carry whiskies to a polo tournament. Each bottle top is etched with the same number, indicating the size. One decanter is etched "52" at the bottom while the other is etched "53".

I do not have the receipt from Bonhams auction house when these were purchased in 2006 during a sale of Truman Capote's memorabilia by Joanne Carson, Johnny Carson's second wife and friend to Capote, so I can't reflect the provenance in the pricing, but you can have the story as well as the catalog from the original sale. They are depicted as gifts from Andy Warhol after the famous Black and White Ball at the Plaza Hotel in 1968. See less
