Decorated to the lid with a central stylized depiction of the character 壽 (shòu, longevity) stylized like the Sun amidst the clouds with a phoenix to its left and a dragon to its right.

Of China's Four Symbols, these 2 together represent both young & old yang energy - the white half of yin-yang that represents the heavens (among other things).

The bottom half of the box decorated with repousse vine decoration and an applied oval foot.

Simply a wonderful piece of Chinese export silver!

It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. There is some light edge wear, some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
