Elegant silver pot with smooth, conical walls, outwardly offset, fluted stepped base ring, smoothly converging spout sloping upward, hinged flat lid with mounted ebonised wooden ring and wooden handle mounted at a distance on the side at mid-height.

Ld. - master's mark william hutton & sons ltd 1800 founding of the company in birmingham by william hutton. 1832 relocation to sheffield and start of electroplating operations. After william hutton's death, the name is changed to william hutton & son in 1864, and his son william carr hutton takes over. In 1870, the company becomes william hutton & sons when his brothers join the firm. 1893: registered as a public limited company and takeover of rupert favell & co. 1902: william hutton & sons ltd. Takes over creswick & co. And begins to use the crossed arrows trademark. 1930: bankruptcy of the company and takeover by james dixon & sons. - cross arrows - the arrow symbol was first registered in 1811 for old sheffield plate production by creswick & co – formerly tj & n creswick of sheffield. The crossed arrows symbol was later acquired by william hutton & sons in 1902. (old sheffield plate (osp) is an alloy of copper and sterling silver) - 27442 - production number very well-maintained condition, silver cleaned and polished, age-related signs of wear counterpart available - left pot this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
